Terms of Service

1. What Vantane does

Vantane is an e-invoicing compliance API. You send us invoice data as JSON; we (a) validate it against the applicable e-invoicing standard (EN 16931 and the relevant Peppol BIS rules), (b) generate the compliant UBL 2.1 / Peppol BIS 3.0 document from it, and (c) deliver that document over the Peppol e-invoicing network via our accredited, wholesale Access Point partner. We do not operate the Peppol network ourselves — delivery is carried out by our Access Point partner, who is independently accredited by OpenPeppol to do so.

2. Sandbox vs. production

Sandbox requires no account. It validates and generates documents for free and simulates delivery — nothing is transmitted to any real recipient or network, and sandbox invoice data is purged after 24 hours. Production requires a signed-in account, a verified business (see §4), and results in a real document actually transmitted to your buyer's Access Point. Only use production for invoices you intend to actually send.

3. Pricing and billing

Sandbox and POST /v1/validate are free and unmetered, indefinitely. For production delivery: the first 25 delivered invoices in a calendar month are free; after that, invoices are billed per unit at marginal tiers that reset each calendar month (currently €0.10 for the 26th–1,000th, €0.06 for the 1,001st–10,000th, €0.03 for the 10,001st and beyond — the current rates are always published at https://vantane.com and this document defers to that page if they differ).

If you have a card on file, we charge it automatically once your owed balance reaches €10 or at the end of the calendar month, whichever comes first ("threshold billing"). If you don't, you must maintain a prepaid credit balance; production delivery fails with an actionable top-up link once your balance is exhausted. Prepaid credits do not expire. All fees are exclusive of taxes we're required to collect, which are added where applicable.

4. Business verification (KYB) and invoice content

Before your key can deliver production invoices, you attest to your business identity (legal name, country, VAT ID, registration number) and confirm: "I am authorized to issue invoices on behalf of this entity." This attestation, its timestamp, and the submitting IP address are retained as a record of that legal act.

Division of responsibility: Vantane is responsible for the invoice's format and transmission — that the document we generate and send is structurally and legally compliant with EN 16931 and the applicable Peppol rules. You are responsible for the invoice's content — that the business facts you submit (parties, amounts, VAT treatment, line items, dates) are true and that you are authorized to issue the invoice. We validate structure; we do not and cannot verify that your invoice reflects a real transaction on real terms. Compliance with format rules does not make an invoice accurate, and accuracy is on you.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Vantane to generate or deliver invoices for transactions you know to be fictitious or fraudulent, to impersonate a business you're not authorized to represent, to abuse the public sandbox key (e.g. scraping, denial-of-service, or credential stuffing against it), or to violate the acceptable-use terms of our Access Point partner or the Peppol network. We may suspend or revoke keys used this way.

6. Availability

We aim for high availability but make no uptime guarantee absent a separate written agreement. Delivery depends in part on our Access Point partner and the recipient's network participant; we are not responsible for delays or failures caused by those third parties, but we will surface delivery failures to you rather than reporting silent success.

7. Liability

Vantane is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from these terms or your use of the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months preceding the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or excludes liability for our own fraud or willful misconduct.

8. Termination

You may stop using Vantane and revoke your API keys at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, non-payment, or misuse of the sandbox or production network. On termination we retain records as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by invoicing law, even after your account closes.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top. Continued use of production delivery after a change constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
